Enjoy Greek cuisine at a beachfront taverna after taking in the panoramic views of Perissa bay and it's worth trying sea food or some traditional Greek mezes. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and bars in Perissa serving delicious traditional dishes.

Visiting the Blue Flag Perissa Beach is a must while holidaying in Santorini, as it’s famed as being one of the island’s best spots. Black lava sand carpets the shore and it’s lapped by azure water making this an idyllic location for swimmers and sun worshippers.

At one one end of Perissa beach is Mesa Vouno and it towers over the centre of the bay, Mesa Vouno is a small mountain that’s perfect for a day hike.

Hike up its stony trails and you’ll be rewarded with amazing views out to sea, as well as Santorini's famous caldera. The climb should only take around about an hour or so.

The hike up Mesa Vouno will lead you to the remains of Ancient Thera, an old capital which took it's name from Theras a mythical ruler of Santorini. Here are the ruins of the agora and temple grounds.

Perissa has a great selection of bars and restaurants but it is also easy to visit the capital of Santorini, Thira, and Oia which is the place to head to for Santorini's spectacular sunsets. The local buses are operated by KTEL and are the cheapest mode of transport on the island. Santorini is easy to get round and all of the public transport links are excellent.

Whilst in the capital make sure you seek out the Three Bells of Thira. These are a striking example of the post-earthquake building style. Head up to the tiny square and you'll find the Three Bells on your immediate right.

Perissa really is a great choice for your holiday to Santorini, allowing you easy access to the whole island, and is a more cost effective resort to stay in rather than the the Caldera resorts of Thera and Oia.
