Choosing which airport to fly from can cause disagreement when you live in a place like Haxby as we are close to so many options. Our closest major airport is of course Leeds Bradford but it can be challenging to get there via public transport  and it also has limitations on which airlines you can fly with – Jet2 & Ryanair being the largest in terms of numbers of flights.

Ignoring Humberside Airport and Durham Tees Valley (due to these being mainly served by a small number of charter flights and KLM) and our next closest airport is Doncaster Sheffield or Robin Hood as it is commonly known as. Its 51 miles from Haxby and takes around one hour and ten minutes in the car to travel there.

We then have Manchester Airport which is 88 miles from Haxby across the M62 (this puts many people off straight away) with a journey time of around one hour and 37 minutes. Manchester Airport does have the largest choice of airlines in the north of England with Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Etihad amongst many other options. But many people find it can be too large as well as being put off by the M62 crossing.
